SOCIETY OF GROWNUPS
DON’T TALK ABOUT MONEY!
Oh no! Exactly the opposite is the mission of the SOCIETY OF GROWNUPS in Boston. The idea came about after a brainstorming session involving the design firm IDEO and Mass Mutual, the insurance company. Together, they noticed that the Millennials (or Generation Y) do not trust in banks and at the same time they are confused about financial matters. Banks and financial advisors don’t invest in the millennial market. But Mass Mutual wants to learn more about them and enabled with an investment, the realization of the SOCIETY OF GROWNUPS and promised that it will be run as an independent company that provides neutral advice.
The clubhouse in the yuppie neighborhood Brookline in Boston looks like a trendy coffee shop. But they don’t promote hot drinks but rather financial check up (for $ 20), short class (for $ 30), supper class (for $ 40) or 90 minutes personal consultation (for $ 100).
Here is taught what all adults want to know – but no one teaches. Only with decision we can achieve goals and that’s what keeps the school for adults with its subtitle “Find your inner adult”.
Whether someone wants to buy a house or a new sofa, is planning a world trip or wants to start his own business – you can seek advice from experts with diverse backgrounds to fair conditions. This can also be a short class, how to cook a dinner for 4 people or how to plan next vacation. In particular, when it comes to investment, insurance and loans independent financial consultants will advise you.
We particularly love the idea of the class “Getting better with age” – here the knowledge about long-term investments with the expertise on wines in the best vintages is combined.
The SOCIETY OF GROWNUPS invites you to have a chat on such a likeable way. They created a place where you feel comfortable and that’s allowing to deal with critical issues in a pleasant manner. Here is plenty of room for new ideas, perspectives and answers to so many questions.
The concept, the philosophy and the overall impression has us convinced and we are excited what comes next. Currently they secured $100 million from parent company MassMutual to build out its digital footprint and open 10 additional physical spaces in the U.S. in the next three years.
Just see the pictures of our visit and the film, which takes the idea even better to the point. And who can not get enough, here are the great commercials of SOCIETY OF GROWNUPS.
