THE IDEA VILLAGE
SUPPORT ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A CHANCE FOR AN ENTIRE CITY
The whole world is fighting for talent and try to be a part of the frenzied, crazy world of startups in all its facets. In New Orleans, we visit an organization that has the vision that the city will be the hub of entrepreneurship in the South by 2018. The creative center of THE IDEA VILLAGE is located in the heart of Downtown near the Mississippi River.
In 2000, the nonprofit organization itself started on a cocktail napkin, as many startups, and turned into a global movement. This enabled numerous of visionaries and doers as well large and small sponsors with private, business or political motivation. The IDEA VILLAGE offers young companies and potential startups direct support in the form of consultation, discussion and connecting such as with investors. A highlight is the Entrepreneur Season, the annual cycle of unique programs and events that drive entrepreneurial activity in New Orleans. The Season culminates each March with New Orleans Entrepreneur Week. A week of lectures, workshops, creative hubs and events. Entrepreneur are based outside of the Greater New Orleans region, are welcome to participate in New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, but all other programs are strictly for entrepreneurs with businesses located in New Orleans. The Idea Village does not charge fees for their programs. Foundations, corporations, government, and individuals underwrite the cost of these programs with a goal of creating economic impact in New Orleans. They ask entrepreneurs to “Pay-it-Forward” through both time and financial contributions to support future entrepreneurs, but there is no legal obligation.
We are inspired by this independent 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission to identify, support, and retain entrepreneurial talent in New Orleans.

I wanted to say that I really appreciate the quality of the photos and texts in your blog. While it sounds like a cliche, you’d be surprised by the amount of stupid things people usually write about….not to mention the lame selfies! Thanks for covering subjects that actually matter and are fun to read 🙂 Enjoy Australia, and post some Brazilian photos! Hahaha….
