A PEACEFUL PLACE
A PEACEFUL PLACE
In many cases we publish about places which appears like little oasis in the big city jungle. Spaces, places to go and communities which let us escape into a another world. Also in Rio de Janeiro, we had such an experience like this – the visit to the Hotel Santa Teresa.
When we think of Rio, we associate in our minds images of Samba, Caipirinha and beach parties. Also off the carnival season the city is loud, colorful and lively. Only slightly offside from one of the numerous party miles, you can find the historic district of Santa Teresa. We visited the 5 star hotel, which belongs to the Sofitel group and is a certified Relais & Châteaux.
After the huge, heavy wooden door opened at the nondescript entrance we climbed up the little staircase. At the top we took a deep breath and feel immediately that we have arrived at a place for feeling good. The small pool with view over the city hills, the modern, relaxed restaurant and especially the small fine garden invites to come down. The lobby and room corridors let immerse, by architecture, furnishing and through art and photos, in stories of the earlier coffee plantation. The room corresponding to a very good standard and go along with the authentic environment and its history. In our opinion, for such a hotel category, the condition in some places did not convinced but it encourages us to re-think about the mechanics of such a place.
We say “peaceful”. This implies a place where peace prevails, where the stress and the constant conflicts subsides, where we feel safe and have sufficient room to be oneself. Then you can suddenly lose track of time and characterized these moments to be remembered. Of course, this experience is more intense when the contrast is stronger. Like here when you change from a packed, noisy city life in a tropical landscaped, quiet place where you can feel body and mind differently. Space is understood as an open realm and through its various factors it is so exciting. To create a successful special experience physically and psychologically is very effective. The results of neuromarketing prove this. Especially in this fast-paced world the peaceful space is a successful mechanism, next to, for example, the adventurous, mysterious or exclusively merry-entertaining forms of embodiment.
Spatial encounters as a form of communication, conveying messages and values, to dispute or precisely not to dispute are so effective because they are experienceable. Brands, companies and organizations as well as art and education in large and in small can use this for their success. Selected hotels are good to encourage us, how to deal with this kind of sense.
